SInger Jani Lane Found Dead at 47

Jani Lane, who rose to fame as the singer of heavy metal band Warrant, was found dead at 47 tonight at the Comfort Inn hotel in a Woodland Hills, California.
Warrant, with hits like ‘Cherry Pie,’ ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin,’ and ‘Heaven,’ was one of the top metal bands of the early 90′s battling it out with Motley Crue, Poison, and Guns N’ Roses.

‘Cherry Pie’ will always be one of the most remembered videos of the past 25 years. It should also be noted that Lane married the hot chick in that video, Bobbi Brown. They divorced after two years of marriage. They had a daughter together, Taylar Jayne Lane.

Jani Lane Autopsy Inconclusive, No Indication of Suicide

The autopsy of former Warrant singer Jani Lane was performed on Friday. However, the result proved inconclusive pending the results of toxicology tests, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Jani Lane, 47, the former Warrant singer, was found dead in a Woodland Hills motel room Thursday night.
It will take seven or eight weeks to finalize the cause of Lane's death, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said. However, there is no indication he committed suicide, the police sources said.
But some of Lane's close friends feel the singer could have succumbed to alcohol addiction. "He lost his battle over alcohol," Lane's longtime friend and manager Obi Steinman said.
According to the police sources, there are alcohol and prescription drugs found in the room he died. Also he had been struggling with substance issues and ranked up at least two DUI arrest.
Steinman paid tribute for his friend, "He was one of the great rock-and-roll frontmen and singers of all time," he said. "His music helped shape the '80s."

Warrant's current members also paid tribute with a concert Friday night in North Dakota. "We never thought that when the song 'Heaven' was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani's untimely death," guitarist Erik said with TMZ. "This is a very sad day for rock and roll."
"We'd like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jani Lane regarding their loss. Respectfully, Bret and all at MEGI," Bret Michaels tweeted.
"Jani Lane's is yet another sad story of a boy who attained his dreams of greatness, only to be blindsided by the pressures, temptations and disappointments of those same dreams," wrote Twisted Sister's Dee Snider.
"We all watched over the years, as he soared, stumbled, fell, then got up again and again. Tragically, he will get up no more. RIP Jani."
"R.I.P. Jani Lane...a true songwriter and one of the most underrated voices in rock n roll, unfairly looked over because of hair metal tag," Mark "Sugar Ray" McGrath added.
Lane's family will hold a private memorial service on Sunday and a public memorial in Hollywood, featuring performances by other metal bands such as Great White and L.A. Guns , will be held Aug. 24, Steinman said.

The birthday of Pierre de Fermat, the 17th century French lawyer famous for the so-called 'Fermat's Last Theorem' mathematical puzzle, is celebrated in a Google Doodle today.

The Doodle shows a blackboard with algebraic symbols on it, with the word "Google" faintly visible as though rubbed out earlier. The symbols read: xⁿ + yⁿ ≠ zⁿ. If you hover your mouse over the Doodle, the pop-up text reads "I have discovered a truly marvelous proof of this theorem, which this doodle is too small to contain."

Pierre de Fermat, was born on 17 August 1601, 410 years ago. A lawyer at the Parlement of Toulouse and a gifted amateur mathematician, he made breakthroughs in several fields of calculus, probability, geometry and number theory, but is best known for a brief note he made in the margin of a book of arithmetic.

His enigmatic aside set the scene for perhaps the greatest mathematical mystery of all time.

It had been known for centuries that it is possible to find numbers a, b and c in which: a²+ b² = c². That is, some "square" numbers - the product of a number multiplied by itself - added to certain other squares, created a third square. Examples of these so-called "Pythagorean triples" include 3²+ 4² = 5^2,or 9+16 =25. Another example is 5²+ 12² = 13^2.

However, it had been the subject of argument whether that held true for any other power: or, as mathematicians would put it, whether there was any whole number n for which aⁿ + bⁿ = cⁿ. Many believed it was not, but no-one could prove it mathematically.

Autopsy inconclusive for rocker

Los Angeles - An official cause of death has yet to be determined for former Warrant frontman Jani Lane, with the initial autopsy providing inconclusive results Friday.

The excitable pop metal artist was found dead in a hotel room at a Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Thursday night. He was 47.

Toxicology tests are under way, with results expected in the next two months.

Lane, whose last residence was in Redondo Beach, Calif., had struggled with addiction for years. According to TMZ, vodka and prescription pills were found at the death scene, but Vicky Oswald-Ley, Lane's sister, placed the blame for his death squarely on alcohol in a Friday interview with Radaronline: ''Alcoholism is not something he chose. It's something he fought every day and it just won,'' she said.

“There were no drugs, that was one thing he could not tolerate, he couldn't stand them. He did not do drugs. We don't have the autopsy report back yet, but he was a heavy drinker and I can only guess that alcoholism has a lot to do with it.''

Lane was arrested in 2009 for driving under the influence. In 2010, he was arrested on the same charge and spent 120 days in jail.

The rocker left Warrant numerous times, first in 1993 and then more permanently in 2004. He reunited with his old bandmates one final time, in 2008.

Jani Lane Death Details Uncovered: Vodka, Pills Found on Scene

New details have emerged regarding the death of former Warrant frontman Jani Lane, and they don’t paint a pretty picture.
As previously reported, the 47-year old’s body was found in a Woodland Hills hotel room yesterday. Paramedics pronounced Lane dead at the scene and put his time of death around 5:15 p.m.

No official cause has been listed and an autopsy is planned for later today. But sources tell TMZ that police suspect an accidental overdose because investigators discovered a half-empty bottle of vodka, along with prescription pills, inside the room.
Lane has battled substance abuse for years. He was arrested for DUI in 2010 and was sentenced to 120 days in prison.

He also plays the piano and guitar with sports in high school.

He moved to Florida, sang and played drums with a cover band. He moved to Los Angeles where he formed a band called Plain Jani Lane. He joined Warrant after its Erik Turner, founder him to rehearse with band. He left band in 2003 and released a solo album. His two marriages ended in divorce. His first wife was Bobbie Brown and she performed in the ‘Cherry Pie’ video. Taylar Lane a daughter from his first marriage. Madison Lane is a daughter from his second marriage while Brittany and Ryan two stepdaughters.
